Nintendo Switch Skyrim Mods
They can only run certain mods and can only run a small number of simultaneous mods. No big mods that add new areas or quests and no big mods that add texture overhauls or huge weapon packs because of the limitations of the hardware. Switch definitely doesn't have the power to pull it off. If you wanna play Skyrim with mods get a PC.
Hello
I know the Switch modding scene isn't big here yet, but for those who are interested, I wanted to share some tips and make a list of the mods that I've personally found to work thus far. This is not a comprehensive list, but rather a collection of the ones I've tried personally.
TIPS TO GET STARTED
- You will obviously need a Switch running custom firmware. That is beyond the scope of this post, but you can find all of the info you need online.
- There is a Youtube video called 'Skyrim PC Mods on the Nintendo Switch' that will take you through all of the steps to get mods running.
- You are limited to 10 mod slots. Please note that 4 of the slots will be taken up by the Skyrim DLC and the Link outfit, but these can be overwritten as they load automatically from the game.
- Though you are limited to 10 slots, you can still use the 'Merge Plugins' program (available on Nexus) to combine a lot of similar mods, giving the possibility for far more than 10 mods.
- You can find pre-converted mods for Switch on Nexus here, but there are only around 60 or so available at the moment since this is all still new. Alternatively, you can convert most PC mods to be compatible with the Switch. All necessary info for that is covered in the Youtube video I mentioned above.
- If you want to convert the PC mods, you must use the Skyrim Special Edition mods, as this is the version that is on Switch.
- I've tested around 40 mods so far. 99% of them work perfectly fine, leading me to believe that most mods will work on the Switch.
Nintendo Switch Skyrim Mods List
- Unfortunately, any mods requiring the Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) will not work on the Switch at the moment.
- It is helpful to have a PC version of Skyrim, so you can use LOOT to determine a proper load order before installing your Switch mods. Edius dongle cracker full with license.

LIST OF NON WORKING MODS
Immersive Sounds - Caused my game to crash as soon as I swung my weapon. If anyone has success with this mod, let me know
ELFX: This mod actually works great, aside from a glitch inside of some buildings where big white cubes are displayed wherever a light source is at. I have not extensively tested yet though, and it may have conflicted with another mod
VIVID WEATHERS: Causes crashes. Didn’t start crashing until I was pretty deep into a playthrough, so this mod wasted a lot of time.
MERGING MODS
As mentioned before, mods can be merged with Merged Plugins and converted for Switch. I do not have a great deal of experience with this, but I successfully merged 2 mods together and can confirm that the correct order is to merge the mods, and then convert them. As far as I know, Merge Plugins will only work if you have the PC version of Skyrim installed, as it uses the Skyrim installation directory to locate the mods. There is a lot of info on merging mods online. I found this tutorial to be helpful.
I did run into a lot of errors with merging certain plugins, but I think this has more to do with my inexperience. One thing I noticed is that some mods merged successfully, but did not convert to Switch correctly. If anyone has any advice/tips on merging/converting successfully, please feel free to share.
That's about it for now. I hope this post can be useful to some who are looking to mod Skyrim Switch edition. I will try to add more tips and update the working mod list as often as I can.
